This consultation has concluded.
Yarra Council is seeking your feedback on options to reduce smoking.
At its March meeting, Council decided to seek community feedback on ways to reduce people smoking especially in public places such as playgrounds, parks, outdoor dining areas, and entrances to Council owned facilities, amongst other places. Council also considered whether its appropriate to introduce a local law to enforce a ban.
Over 6 months (April - October 2011), Council encouraged the community to talk about solutions to reduce the health impacts of smoking related illness.
Council sought feedback from local residents, visitors, businesses and health professionals about possible options, and considered the feedback received in the final resolution, carried on 22 November 2011 Council meeting. See library for all relevant documents including background paper, consultation outcomes and Council report.
We greatly value community participation and the many insights the Yarra community have provided during this consultation.
